OverviewEconomic Empowerment of Rural Women

A global initiative, the Accelerating Progress towards the Economic Empowerment of Rural Women programme secures the livelihoods and rights of rural women in the context of sustainable development. Launched jointly in 2014 in Ethiopia, Guatemala, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Nepal, Niger and Rwanda, the programme builds on the comparative advantages of partners to improve socio-economic opportunities for women, along with their status, in rural areas. Initiatives are designed for rural women to enhance their food security statuses, leadership opportunities, community participation, access to social protection, legal, and economic services, and productive potential.
